   Home      Fertility
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has been used for thousands of years in China and was brought to the USA in the 1970’s. Chinese medicine looks at fertility challenges in a different light by addressing the root cause of the imbalance. It is important to identify the correct traditional Chinese medical diagnosis to obtain the maximum benefit of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for complete balancing. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are very effective at treating what is sometimes called “unexplained infertility” as well as treating diagnosed conditions. Infertility is not uncommon in China, but success rates are higher, as the option for TCM treatment is utilized more frequently.

How can acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine help with fertility?
  • Increases blood flow to the uterus, thus thickening the uterine lining, which improves the chances of an ovum implanting on the uterine wall.
  • Reduces anxiety, stress, and hormones secreted during stressful situations - such as cortisol - which significantly decreases fertility.
  • Normalizes the systems that regulate ovulation, especially in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
  • Improve ovarian function - encourages production of follicles & enhances their quality.
  • Regulates the menstrual cycles.
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Preventing the uterus from contracting
  • Improving sperm count, motility and morphology as well as other sexual health problems such as impotence.
  • Improve pregnancy rates in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). Acupuncture can increase IVF success by 65%. The remarkable success rate occurred across seven acupuncture trials involving 1,366 women. Results are published in the February 2008 issue of the British Medical Journal.
  • Lessening the side effects of drugs used in IVF or other western productive techniques
  • Decreasing the chances of miscarriage
  • Positively affects the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, which plays a major role in fertility.
